RTC develops and supports implementation of new technologies in all product groups of Hendrix Genetics: ISA layers, Hybrid turkeys and Hypor pigs. RTC consists of two units: breeding R&D and breeding IT headed by Gerard Albers. RTC initiates and runs joint projects to develop new technologies in the fields of quantitative genetics, breeding IT, molecular genetics (DNA) and reproduction technology. Researchers at RTC develop and apply advanced statistical methods for estimation of breeding values of selection candidates and for control of inbreeding. Molecular genetic techniques are exploited in genomics projects for all species bred by Hendrix Genetics companies. Hendrix Genetics also closely monitors new developments in advanced reproduction technologies, but maintains a policy of not using transgenic and gene modification techniques in breeding activities.
