Misión

On 4th March 2004, The Ministry of Science and Technology (now Sciencie and Innovation) and the Regional Government of Castilla y León signed an agreement to constitute The Consortium for the Construction, Equipment and Operation of the N.R.C.H.E. (CENIEH).

The CENIEH's main objective is to develop research in the frame of human evolution during the Pliocene and Pleistocene, promoting the transfer of information and knowledge to society. The CENIEH promotes and supports works on archaeological sites of these periods both in Spain and other countries of Africa and Eurasia. Besides, the CENIEH also restores and preserves collections from archaeological and Paleontological sites from the Pliocene and Pleistocene.

Here, research is of an interdisciplinary nature, for this reason the CENIEH is interested in different scientific disciplines, provided they are all related to the study of the evolution of hominins during the Plio-Pleistocene periods.

It is the arm of the CENIEH to become a world-wide referential centre of research on human evolution in order to obtain international acknowledgement for its achievements and professional staff.
