Mission

MGRC was incorporated in Malaysia on 3 August 2004 as a private limited company and was officially launched in 2005 at the internationally renowned Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology Symposium that was held in the United States.

Since then, we have rapidly progressed to become one of Asia's leading providers of bioinformatics and genomics services. We have undertaken and completed a host of groundbreaking projects for clients in all corners of the world. This is clearly showcased by our two watershed accomplishments to date.

In 2009, we successfully assembled the 1.8 billion base pair oil palm genome for Sime Darby Berhad. This project was the first in the world to successfully sequence, assemble and annotate the largest plant genome using data generated from only next generation sequencing machines.

Also in the same year, we completed the first cancer genome analysis project for Brigham and Women's Hospital, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School, whereby 29 billion base pairs of DNA from a single lung cancer tumour were analysed. The successful outcome has enabled this project to be further expanded and we are proud to have since progressed to analysing over 1,000 billion base pairs of DNA for our client.

Following several years of commercialisation, we subsequently converted into a public limited company on 25 January 2010.
