Mission

Teaching and research centre for all cold regions subjects including glaciology, cold regions engineering, and cryobiology. Facilities include a sea ice research laboratory (Monbetsu), and field observatories for avalanche studies (Toikanbetsu), frost heaving (Tomakomai), and snow melt (Moshiri). Library.
